Description:

Emergency Management is an exciting and rapidly expanding profession, domestically and internationally. Recent events, including the COVID-19 (SARS-Cov-2) pandemic, the 2016 Fort McMurray wildfire and the 2021 atmospheric river flooding in British Columbia, illustrated the ongoing potential for serious disruption in everyday life.

These incidents also heightened awareness of the importance of efficient Emergency Management, which includes working to prevent or mitigate the impact of potential challenges as well as responding to current emergencies. Emergency managers require strong analytical, communication and integrative skills, which help them establish a meaningful dialogue with experts in a wide range of fields and make sense of the complex information they provide.
